Applications are open for GoalKeepers Youth Action Accelerator 2019.
The Goalkeepers Youth Action Accelerator is a 12-month pilot project
that will engage and support up to 30 youth advocates using data to
improve local development related to poverty, hunger, health and
well-being, education, gender equality and water and sanitation (Global
Goals 1-6).
These youth advocates will have access to a suite of funding and
technical capacity development support, valued at up to $30,000.
Participants will also have access to local and international networking
opportunities to garner visibility and mobilise funds for their initiatives.

great idea, but need a little extra support to realise its full

Eligibility
They’re looking for young advocates from all walks of life with proven
determination and experience.
You’re an ideal candidate if you:
* Are an experienced social activist, researcher, campaigner,
technologist, scientist or change agent.
* Are committed and ready to advance and accelerate the progress of a
successful idea now and in the longer-term.
* Are passionate about solving local development issues, no matter
what it takes
You (the applicant) should fulfill the following criteria:
* You are a young person (age 18-35 as of 1 January 2019) or
represent a youth-ledorganisation.
* You or your organisation are affiliated with one of the following
partners:
o Action for Sustainable Development
o Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation
o Goalkeepers Community
o CIVICUS
o George W. Bush Institute
o Obama Foundation
o Restless Development
o If you’re not affiliated with any of these organisations, you
can sign-up to become a CIVICUS member here
You work in your community to enhance local development in Africa,
Asia, Latin America or the Middle East (with priority given to
Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia).
* You are able to dedicate up to 50% of your time to
Accelerator-related activities from January to December 2019,
including a 5-day workshop in Arusha, Tanzania, from 21-25 January
2019, and twice-monthly online calls.
* You have the capacity to deliver on your proposed idea/plan.
* You can share your expertise and knowledge with other participants,
and bring learnings or synergies back to your organisation/community.
* If you are applying as an organisation, you must demonstrate
alignment between your organisation mission and the initiative.
* If you are applying as an organisation, the governance structure of
your organisation must approve your application.

Proposal Criteria:
Your idea should fulfill the following criteria:
* The idea contributes to driving progress towards Global Goals 1-6
ending poverty, eliminating hunger and/or promoting health and
well-being, quality education, gender equality, and/or access to
clean water and sanitation.
* The idea focuses on the national or subnational (i.e. local) level.
* The Accelerator will serve your long-term strategy.
* The idea has been tested and is ready for acceleration.
* The idea focuses on
(1) data sourcing and accountability (e.g.
initiatives that collect community feedback to gauge how people
perceive progress over time and/or crowdsource quantitative data on
how much progress is being made on specific indicators) and/or
(2) data translation and storytelling (e.g. storytelling
initiatives and campaigns that translate development data for
advocacy efforts with leaders across sectors).
Assessment Criteria
* Relevance to the Accelerator’s themes, i.e. data sourcing and
accountability and/or data translation and storytelling
* Feasibility, viability, and coherence of the idea
* Impact and scaling potential in the near-term
* Innovation, with a focus on creative ideas for generating and using
citizen generated data
* Proven experience and understanding of the problem
* Soundness of budget and implementation plan
* Clearly articulated link between Accelerator support and the
initiative’s success
* Human resource capacity
